There are so many good books, and so many good people. As the people we know and love spread across the country and the world our correspondence will inevitably diminish; book reading is not a competition nor exposition but rather a method of communication. By reading what others are reading we will better connect with ourselves and each other. By connecting we will quickly and efficiently reach a higher state of consciousness.
Actually, I tried to read Cadillac Desert. I finished maybe a third of it. That shit is dry as fuck, though very informative. I'm sorry to say, I'm not sure if I'll ever finish (this coming from a former "history" major). We live we and learn, and we experience a whole plethora of other cliches.
ReplyDeleteLet's read! Or like The Cars would say, "Let's go!" Although I'm not sure what we should read yet.
ReplyDeleteDitto on Cadillac Desert. I kept falling asleep.
So, Brenda will choose the next book. We will give her until All Hallow's Eve. Then we will read it and DISCUSS it!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteDoes no one want to discuss Cadillac Desert? I bet most of you didn't make it to the part of the book on Floyd Dominy! He's one of the most entertaining figures in all of American environmental history; the antithesis of John Muir. Anyway, the fact that someone called that book "dry" is fucking hilarious.
